The Pitch Zoo team consists of John Mueller and Mark Omwansa.
Pitch Zoo was founded by John Mueller in 2013 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. At the time, John Mueller was a professor at Western Michigan University (WMU) where he taught entrepreneurship. He has since taught at the California State University, Fresno, where he was a faculty member in the Craig School of Business and the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
His research interests include entrepreneurial finance (how new, young, and small firms handle their financial and accounting activities), technology entrepreneurship, and sport entrepreneurship.
Prior to his appointments at CSU – Fresno and WMU he started and ran several software and golf companies. He still operates GolfSolutions.com, which currently focuses on managing data related to professional golf tournaments. In addition, he is working on Pick’n Run with his son, Martin Mueller, and Rollin’ Gelato with his wife, Widad Mueller.
While a student at Western Michigan University working on his masters degree in mechanical engineering, Mark Omwansa participated in Pitch Zoo. He was among the first to ‘pitch an inning’ in the zoo. Since then, he has won the Hatching, a business pitch competition in Lansing (July 2014). He is currently working in Lansing, Michigan, and is excited to be part of the Pitch Zoo team, where he helps entrepreneurs articulate their pitch.
